WEARING NAVY & BLACK TOGETHER.

I love mixing navy and black. It adds a bit of interest to a fashion & sttyle look than wearing all black or only navy. It is on-trend, and it has been for the past few years. The number one rule to be broken is to wear black and navy together.

MIXING GOLD WITH SILVER JEWELRY TOGETHER.

Mixing your metals is fashionable. You should choose more subtle pieces if you wear silver and gold together. Instead of large, bold pieces, look for delicate everyday pieces. Mixing metals, silver and gold is possible, whether they are on your handbag, your shoes or your wrist. As long as they are not too loud, you can still wear them together.

DRESSING FOR YOUR YEAR.

It is important to know the difference between breaking this style rule and doing it in a way you like and that works for your style. Trends that are appropriate for younger people right now include crop tops and cutouts. Crop tops and cutouts can be great for people in their 20s and 30s. If you are older, however, I do not recommend these styles.

I don’t think you should feel that once you are 40 or 50, you need to wear button-up shirts or cover up completely. Avoid anything fun or trendy. No matter your age, you want to be able to break the rule and show your style. Be mindful of your body type, age and where you are going. However, it’s important to not only follow this rule but also have fun with your style. You should use wisdom when breaking this rule.

WEARING WHITE AFTER LABOR DAY.

This is an age-old rule that can be broken. Since the beginning of time, winter white has been a staple in every season. I love wearing white throughout the year. One thing I wouldn’t recommend is white linen being worn in winter. Each season is fashionable with every shade of white.

MATCH YOUR OUTFIT.

This fashion rule isn’t the first to have a say in the current spring trends. The hottest trend this season is matching sets. Fashionable is matching your top and bottom. This is a rule I recommend breaking, especially since matching sets are extremely chic right now.

Never REPEAT AN OUTFIT.

In elementary school, I struggled with this rule. I was even more frustrated in high school because I became more interested in fashion. It was not acceptable to have the same outfits over and again. However, this is not a rule to be broken. It is important to re-wear clothes. I believe in the capsule wardrobe because it makes dressing so easy.

This rule should not be broken, especially when you have outfits you love. You should choose pieces you love, that you can match and mix. Many of us would like to be more aware of what clothes and accessories we are buying. We don’t want to accumulate trash that is harmful to the environment or our wallets. We want outfits we love that we can wear over and over again. Feel good about your outfits by re-wearing them.

STYLING DENIM ON DENIM.

Because it isn’t authentic to me, I don’t wear jeans on denim. But this rule doesn’t apply anymore. When you’re wearing denim on jeans, it is when your entire body is covered in denim. This is what happens when you wear jeans with a denim chambray top. This is a fashion-forward and really stylish way to wear denim. It is important to choose different washes of jeans. A lighter-wash button-down shirt or jacket can be worn with a denim top in a darker wash. Mixing your denim washes together is an exception to this rule.

AVOID CLOTHES THAT MATCH YOUR SKUNK TONE.

This is another trend that’s hot for spring and summer. This is a wonderful way to wear monochromatic clothes that match your skin tone. This is a simple and elegant way to look sophisticated and well-put together.

These are the fashion & design rules I encourage everyone to break. These are the rules I have broken, and I encourage you to break only one or two if you feel it is right for you.
